Understanding Telecom Billing System in Details

The drawing shown on the previous page shows the inputs and outputs of a Billing System.

But for the inputs to be converted into outputs, there must be some kind of conversion rule, reference data in the Billing System. We call them Business rules here. The business rules comprise of many things like Product details, Rate plans, Charging principles, user information, etc. All these are fed into the Billing System through a module called as CRM (Customer Relationship Management).

Actually, it is two-way communication.

The billing system receives data from CRM and also entertains requests for data from CRM. These requests from CRM mainly come for Customer Service representatives, Sales Managers, Credit controllers.
